Miller, Bavuma centuries and spinners seal Proteas ODI series win over Australia

The result gave the Proteas an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, following their 67-run victory in Durban. The final match will be played at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on Wednesday.

Batting first after Australia elected to field, South Africa recovered from a difficult start to post 365 for nine from their 50 overs. Miller's explosive 142 from 93 deliveries was the centerpiece of the innings, while Bavuma contributed a composed 103 from 116 balls.

Their performances came on a significant Pink Day occasion at the Wanderers, with players wearing shirts carrying the names of breast cancer fighters and survivors. Miller's shirt carried the name of his mother, Jenny, adding further significance to his outstanding contribution

South Africa were under early pressure after Aiden Markram was dismissed from the first ball of the match and Quinton de Kock departed for 15. Matthew Breetzke briefly steadied the innings with 34 from 28 balls, but his dismissal left the hosts at 93 for three.

Miller then joined Bavuma and the pair completely changed the complexion of the innings.

The fourth-wicket partnership produced 156 runs, allowing South Africa to move from a precarious position into one from which they could attack Australia during the closing overs. Bavuma reached his hundred in the 36th over, recording his first ODI century at the Wanderers, before falling for 103.

Miller continued the assault. He reached his century from 73 balls before accelerating further, eventually finishing with 12 sixes and nine fours. His 142 was his highest ODI score and came at a strike rate of more than 150.

Marco Jansen added 19, while his twin brother Duan struck an unbeaten 27 from 18 balls to provide further late momentum. South Africa ended on 365 for nine.

Australia's Jack Edwards enjoyed a memorable individual performance with the ball, taking five wickets for 67 runs in his 10 overs, while Josh Hazlewood claimed three for 70. Edwards' haul was the first five-wicket performance of his List A career.

Australia's response began impressively.

Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head put together 130 for the opening wicket, attacking South Africa's seamers and keeping the required rate under control. Marsh reached 50 from only 32 balls and eventually made 84 from 53, striking 10 fours and five sixes.
