Bayer Leverkusen shut down Karim Benzema transfer speculation

Bayer Leverkusen shut down Karim Benzema transfer speculation

Benzema became a free agent after ending his contract with Al-Hilal by mutual consent in late August, prompting reports that he could be considering a move to Europe.

Reports on Monday claimed there had been contact between Benzema and Leverkusen. The rumours gathered further attention after the striker was seen following the Bundesliga club's Instagram account.

However, Rolfes was quick to dismiss the possibility of a move when asked about Benzema by BILD.

"Our squad is complete," Rolfes said.

The comment suggests Leverkusen have no plans to add another forward despite the availability of the 38-year-old Benzema.

The former Real Madrid striker remains one of the most decorated forwards of his generation, but there appears to be little interest from Leverkusen in bringing him to the Bundesliga at this stage.

For now, Benzema's next move remains uncertain as he considers his options following his departure from Al-Hilal.
