The Betway Premiership action produced 15 goals over the six fixtures during the past weekend, with no team winning by more than a single goal.

Sundowns quality and depth make the difference

Masandawana rallied to secure a late 2-1 victory against a stubborn Golden Arrows outfit thanks to a world-class long-range strike from Bafana Bafana star Teboho Mokoena.

Portuguese head coach Miguel Cardoso's squad boasts quality and game changers which was evident when he brought on Bafana internationals Iqraam Rayners and Aubrey Modiba in the second half.

Newcomers Siyanda Ndlovu and Antonio van Wyk have also adapted quickly and have already made decisive contributions for Sundowns this season, adding more quality to a star-studded outfit that recently added right-back Deano van Rooyen the squad.

Leaky Kaizer Chiefs defence

Amakhosi fought hard to secure a 3-2 victory over Siwelele FC at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday to move back to third spot on the table.

However, despite the victory, Chiefs will have to be wary of the number of goals that they are conceding of late after letting in five goals in their last three league fixtures.

Head coach Fernando Da Cruz will be looking forward to having more defensive options following the return of Bradley Cross, Reeve Frosler, Paseka Mako and Kabelo Nkgwesa to training.

Ngwenya scoring run for AmaZulu continues

Zimbabwean striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has continued with his record-breaking scoring run after netting in the 2-1 win over Richards Bay on Friday, becoming the first player to score in six opening matches of a season in PSL history.

The 25-year-old has been crucial to Usuthu's attack and is leading the Betway Premiership goal scoring chart with six goals while also providing one assist.

Usuthu will hope Ngwenya can avoid a repeat of last season's injury issues in order to continue their quest for a return to continental football.

Milford proves hard to beat after Chippa draw

Top-flight newcomers Milford FC held Chippa United to a goalless draw at the Buffalo City Stadium on Sunday to remain in fifth spot on the league table.

The Stallions have won twice, drawn twice and lost twice to last season's top sides in the league Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, losing both matches with a 2-0 scoreline but putting on encouraging performances.

Milford have only conceded one goal in the matches that they gained points from, proving to be a difficult opponent to score against for most teams despite their inexperience in the first division.

Truter on thin ice as Chippa winless streak continues

Chippa United played to their fourth draw of the new season against newcomers Milford FC at home in East London as they failed to claim a first win in the league.

Historically, club boss Chippa Mpengesi is known to frequently wield the axe on coaches when results aren't forthcoming, raising eyebrows over the future of current head coach Brandon Truter.

The club tied the record [for the second time] for the most coaches in a single PSL season during the 2025/26 campaign after making six changes.
