Kaizer Chiefs star reveals truth behind stunning Siwelele free-kick

Abrahams produced a moment of brilliance when his effort from an acute angle struck the post before cannoning into the net off Siwelele goalkeeper Samukelo Xulu.

While the free-kick could easily have been mistaken for an attempted cross, the Chiefs loanee insists he knew exactly what he wanted to do.

"When I went to take the free kick, (Wandile) Duba told me not to cross the ball for anyone but to try and score," Abrahams told the Chiefs official website.

The 21-year-old was delighted to see his effort find the back of the net as Chiefs secured a 3-2 victory, their first win in three matches following draws against Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay.

"It felt great because I have been working very hard. I'm just going to keep working hard and giving my all in training. I aim to stay consistent and always keep my performance levels up."

Abrahams joined Chiefs on loan from Stellenbosch this season and will hope his spectacular strike can help him build momentum as he looks to establish himself at Naturena.

His goal put Chiefs 3-1 ahead against Siwelele, although Fernando Da Cruz's side were forced to withstand late pressure before securing all three points.

Amakhosi now turn their attention to Saturday's trip to Polokwane City, with Da Cruz demanding greater ruthlessness from his players after expressing frustration with their lack of a killer instinct.

"The coach will set a plan for this weekend, and we will go out and execute it," added Abrahams.

Polokwane City will be looking to return to winning ways after going four matches without a victory, having drawn three and lost one since their opening-day win over Richards Bay.
