Martin Odegaard misses Norway training ahead of Wales Nations League clash

The Arsenal captain was left frustrated after Bernardo Silva caught him with a late tackle from behind in stoppage time after the ball had already been played. Silva was shown a yellow card for the challenge.

Odegaard later criticised the tackle, saying that such challenges "don't belong on a football pitch".

Norway assistant coach Brede Hangeland described the incident as "ugly" and "dirty play", but said there was still hope Odegaard could recover in time to face Wales on Thursday.

"He was happy. He was in less pain today than yesterday," Hangeland said.

"As I see it, there's a very long time until the match - two and a half days. A lot can happen in that time."

Odegaard's absence from training will be monitored closely by Norway, with the midfielder's ankle problem now raising doubts over his availability for the Wales clash.

The injury is also a concern for Arsenal, who have already seen Kai Havertz leave the Germany squad during the international break with a muscle strain.

Arsenal's next Premier League fixture is against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on October 10.
