Ndlovu backs Kaizer Chiefs squad depth after Petersen, Duba injuries

Amakhosi will take on Golden Arrows on Sunday in a Betway Premiership clash without captain Brandon Petersen who reportedly suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to his knee at training while attacker Wandile Duba is also out with a groin injury.

Petersen, who has made some costly errors this season, is expected to be out for up to six weeks while in-form Duba is sidelined for an estimated two weeks after scoring three goals this season.

Former Maritzburg United Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United versatile midfielder Ndlovu has backed the Soweto giants to be able to produce a positive result despite the injured duo's absence.

"They are two important players in our team but in football you have to deal with unforeseen circumstances," admitted the 29-year-old to the club website

"And, as the coaches always tell us, we are a squad and every player has to be ready to step up when needed, so we trust the players who will come in to fulfil the roles they are given."

Ndlovu also emphasized the importance of Sunday's clash against Arrows in the quest to challenge for the league title, with Chiefs currently occupying fourth spot on the table.

"It's going to be an interesting game because we have played them already and we know it won't be an easy ride, but it's very important for us to go into the break on the back of a positive result," he added.

"They are a possession-based side that is also dangerous in transition so they are tricky to play against, but we have our own tactical plan that will nullify their strengths and pose them problems.

"If we want to stay in the title race, this game is vital to us continuing our journey, so whether we win in style or by grinding it out, we want those three points on Sunday."

The two sides will clash at Mbombela Stadium, kick-off is at 15h00.
