Poggenpoel was introduced early in Wednesday's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after Bathusi Aubaas suffered an injury, with the youngster taking his opportunity and giving Mosimane another option in the middle of the park.
However, the coach is facing a shortage of experienced central midfielders ahead of Sunday's clash against the Pharaohs, with Aubaas becoming the latest casualty in a growing injury list.
Lebohang Maboe and Teboho Mokoena have also picked up injuries during the current Bafana camp.
"Teboho is out with injury; Aubaas is out with injury. So, we are losing a lot of players in the midfield, but it also gave Brooklyn a chance to play in his debut, and he played very well. He played like he has been playing all the time," Mosimane told the media after the match.
Poggenpoel's composed introduction was one of the positives from a comfortable victory that moved Bafana to six points from their opening two AFCON qualifiers.
Mosimane may now have to turn to experienced attacker Themba Zwane to provide additional options in midfield, while Sphephelo Sithole remains one of the few established central midfielders available.
"We are a little bit thin against Egypt with central midfielders, and we had to bring Themba Zwane to play in the midfield because I wanted to take Yaya (Sithole) out because he is the only experienced one we are left with," the coach explained.
Despite the concern over his options, Mosimane also offered encouragement to Aubaas, who was visibly emotional after suffering another injury setback.
"He will soon be back in the national team. We have patience with him," Mosimane said.
With Bafana's midfield options depleted, Poggenpoel's emergence could prove timely as Mosimane prepares for a significantly tougher test against Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
