Tottenham get Pedro Porro injury return for Aston Villa match

Porro has missed Tottenham's last two matches with a muscular problem but Roberto De Zerbi confirmed after Tuesday's 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat at Liverpool that the Spain international will be available.

Tottenham host Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday lunchtime, with De Zerbi's side still searching for their first league goal of the season.

Despite the slow start, De Zerbi remains confident that his players will soon find their rhythm.

"I believe in my players, I have a big confidence, a big opinion of my players," De Zerbi said.

"When we arrive to find the click, to win a game, I think we enjoy with these players."

Another positive for Tottenham has been the return of Mohammed Kudus, who made his first start for the club at Anfield after recovering from a long-term quad injury.

De Zerbi sees the Ghana international as an important part of his attacking plans because of his ability to play in different positions.

"Kudus is another great news for us, because he can play also as a number 10," De Zerbi said.

"We can play with Savio, Kudus, (Dominic) Solanke and (Omar) Marmoush."

With midfielders and full-backs also given licence to attack, De Zerbi believes Tottenham can eventually field a side with as many as eight attacking players.

James Maddison could become another key part of that approach when he reaches full fitness.

The England international has not started a match since May 2025 after suffering a cruciate ligament injury. He has made three substitute appearances this season following his recovery, although he has also dealt with a shoulder fracture.

De Zerbi knows Maddison's return must be carefully managed, given the demands of Premier League football.

"Maddison is for sure a different player, a special player," he said.

"But he has to be fit, he has to be in the right physical condition, because the Premier League intensity, even tonight, is incredible.

"And then we can play with eight attackers."
