Coach Kalisto Pasuwa plots tactical approach as Malawi take on Angola

The Flames have endured a disrupted build-up to the away fixture, with the squad initially spending almost two hours stranded at Luanda airport following their arrival in Angola.

Their preparations were further complicated when the technical team could not secure a suitable venue for a recovery session on Monday morning.

Pasuwa revealed to Football Association of Malawi media that staff were still attempting to determine whether a pitch could be made available before the team's final training session. Should one be secured, the players will use it for stretching and recovery work.

Despite the logistical problems, Malawi have welcomed the return of Richard Mbulu, although the forward remains under observation before the match.

Chawanangwa Gumbo and Robert Saizi have also joined the group after arriving late, with Pasuwa believing their inclusion has given him additional options.

The coach expects Malawi to face a demanding test, particularly with the influence of the home crowd. He emphasised the importance of maintaining their defensive structure and managing transitions effectively when moving between defence and attack.

Young goalkeeper Amos Sande could also be handed his first international start, with his selection set to depend on Monday's final practice. Pasuwa has been impressed by the youngster's progress, particularly his improved communication with the defenders.
