Kaizer Chiefs in-form star Maboe reflects on milestone 200th league appearance

The 31-year-old scored the opener for Amakhosi in the 1-1 draw against City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, earning himself the Betway Premiership Man of the Match award for his performance.

Maboe reflected on his achievement of reaching 200 league matches while also revealing his personal aspirations for the 2026/27 season.

"Firstly, I would like to thank the man above [God] for the talent that he has given me," said Maboe to SuperSport after the match.

"It's been a very long while. This is a milestone for me personally. I’m disappointed in the result today, but we'll just take the point.

"I said this last time, reflecting back on last season, I knew coming into this season I had to be a lot more involved in the final third, getting goals and making assists. So, I'm happy that it’s coming to life now, and I'm looking forward to many more."

The former SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns player has scored two goals while providing two assists for the Glamour Boys in seven appearances this season.

He has also been included in new head coach Pitso Mosimane's first Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the upcoming 2027 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea.
