Late Atletico surge and Barcelona firepower headline Sunday's La Liga action

Barcelona consolidated top spot in the league standings, while Atletico moved up to fourth.

Barcelona produced an explosive attacking display at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia to claim all three points. Early strikes from Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal put the visitors ahead.

Yamal added a third from the penalty spot before Karim Adeyemi sealed the victory in stoppage time, holding off a late second-half fightback from Levante.

"We had a great start, but then we broke down a bit, we needed to play more calmly. The pitch was not in the best condition, it was very dry," Barcelona boss Hansi Flick told reporters.

“The first goal was my fault, we wanted to make a change, and Espart had requested it, but we decided to wait. But I'm happy, we won and had a great start to the game.”

Real Sociedad 0-3 Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid displayed devastating clinical efficiency in the closing stages at Anoeta to dismantle Real Sociedad.

After a tense, goalless opening 80 minutes, Alejandro Grimaldo converted a late penalty to break the deadlock. Quickfire goals from Jonathan David and Giuliano Simeone during final minutes completed a commanding away triumph.

Celta Vigo 1-1 Malaga

Celta Vigo and Malaga shared the points at Balaidos after a hard-fought contest. Celta drew first blood late in the first half when Ferran Jutgla slotted home the opener.

However, Malaga's persistence paid off late in the game as substitute Adrian Nino produced an 83rd-minute equalizer to secure a draw.

Getafe 1-1 Deportivo La Coruna

A tight affair at the Coliseum ended with Getafe and Deportivo La Coruna taking a point each. After a scoreless opening half, Ramón Terrats put the hosts ahead in the 66th minute.

The lead was short-lived, as veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck back 12 minutes later to pull Deportivo level.
