Newcastle set to bring in Bazoumana Toure after agreeing terms with Hoffenheim

Negotiations between the two clubs are at an advanced stage, with only the final details still to be resolved before the Ivory Coast international can make the switch to St James' Park.

Should the transfer be completed, the 20-year-old is expected to become the first arrival in what is anticipated to be a busy recruitment drive following the combined 170 million-pound departures of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.

Born on 2 March 2006, Toure has quickly developed a reputation as one of Europe's brightest emerging wide attackers. Operating mainly as an inverted left winger, he has earned praise for his blistering speed, fearless one-on-one play and ability to carry the ball at defenders during counter-attacks.

Toure began his career with ASEC Mimosas, progressing through the club's academy before featuring for the senior side between 2022 and 2024. During that spell, he helped the club secure the 2022/23 Ivorian Ligue 1 title.

A move to Swedish side Hammarby IF followed in 2024, and he impressed by scoring eight goals in 23 Allsvenskan appearances. Those displays caught the attention of clubs across Europe, leading Hoffenheim to sign him in February 2025 for a fee worth around €14 million plus bonuses.

After taking time to adapt during the latter half of the 2024/25 campaign, Toure flourished last season, contributing five Bundesliga goals and nine assists in 30 appearances as Hoffenheim finished fifth to qualify for the Europa League.

He made his senior Ivory Coast debut in October 2025 and has since collected nine international caps while scoring twice for his country.
