Solomon Agbasi eyes league and continental success with Stellenbosch
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has joined Stellenbosch on a long-term deal as coach Gavin Hunt strengthens his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Stellenbosch were left with limited options between the posts following Lee Langeveldt's retirement, Oscarine Masuluke's departure and Dublin Boon's move to Orlando Pirates.
Agbasi's arrival provides further competition for captain Sage Stephens and Nathan Garrow, with the Ghana international now looking to play his part in helping the club challenge at the top end of the Betway Premiership.
"Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Ghana international Solomon Agbasi on a long-term deal," the club confirmed on Friday.
Agbasi was recently part of Ghana's squad as a travelling reserve at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, and he will wear the No. 16 shirt at Stellenbosch.
The goalkeeper could make his debut when the Maroons face Kaizer Chiefs on 17 October.
Having featured in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage in the previous two seasons, Stellenbosch will be looking to return to continental competition, and Agbasi has made that one of his immediate ambitions.
"I feel very excited to be part of Stellenbosch FC. Football has always given me a place to call home, and I feel like I am at home. Everyone has welcomed me, and I feel good to be here," Agbasi said.
The Ghanaian is also targeting a strong league finish as Stellenbosch look to establish themselves among South Africa's leading clubs.
He added: "I'm hoping to help the team get back to the top four in the league, and from there compete for the league and in the CAF Confederation Cup or Champions League in the coming seasons."
