Brandon Truter: Chippa United must cut out mistakes against Mamelodi Sundowns

The Chilli Boys are yet to win this season under Truter in five Betway Premiership matches, having drawn four and lost one.

They face a stern test of their credentials against a Sundowns side with six wins and one draw this season.

It would be harsh for Truter to lose his job with defeat to the Brazilians, but the pressure is certainly mounting on the head coach.

After a heavy 3-0 defeat to defending champions Orlando Pirates, Truter knows his side need to cut out the kinds of errors that led to that result.

Since then, they have drawn 1-1 with Siwelel and 0-0 with Milford FC.

"The game against the African Champions presents the challenge again," Truter said in the Sowetan.

"We were against the SA champions, we made three mistakes, and they punished us. So, let's see if we can eliminate those mistakes, let's see if we can put more discipline and turn the chances into goals.

"That will be our benchmark and objectives for this week because we won't get those many [chances] against Sundowns, and that will be a challenge for us. But we will prepare and focus for Sunday."

Truter added though that his team are improving and will soon turn draws into wins.

"We are building confidence in a sense that we are not losing, let's respect Pirates for being the champions. A point in this league is valuable, we will turn this one point into three, I'm confident about it," he said.

“The boys are growing nicely, but it's the last third that is a concern for me – the chance we create.”
