Da Cruz pinpoints Kaizer Chiefs attacking issue after Arrows stalemate

Amkhosi were held to an entertaining goalless draw at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, in a match were Lebogang Maboe saw his penalty excellently saved by Thakusani Mbanjwa.

The Soweto giants also saw attacker Mfundo Vilakazi rattle the woodwork with a second half effort but could not find an elusive winner despite some promising attacks.

Head coach Da Cruz has relied on his younger players upfront with Luke Baartman, 20, Wandile Duba, 22, Faiz Abrahams, 21, Langelihle Phili, 21, Mduduzi Shabalala, 22, and Vilakazi, 20, being favoured for the starting berths upfront in recent games.

"We have a lack of maturity in our front line," said Da Cruz to SuperSport after the match.

"It's a lot of young players with a lot of quality, but they have a lack of maturity. But we are on the right track, and we need to continue in this way. We are going to win games for sure; we will score goals.

"I'm 100 percent sure, I found a positive today [Sunday], even if it's 0-0, but it was a good game."

Chiefs, who lie fourth on the Betway Premiership table have scored eleven goals in all competitions during the current campaign, with seven of those being scored by players under the age of 23.
