Carlos Queiroz quits as Ghana coach after Gambia AFCON collapse
Carlos Queiroz has left his role as Ghana coach after the Black Stars suffered a 4-2 home defeat to Gambia in CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

A five-member panel has been assembled to oversee the recruitment process after the GFA leadership met with the Ministry in Accra on Friday, 2 October 2026.
Former GFA Vice-President Fred Pappoe has been selected to lead the committee, with his experience in football administration and governance set to play a key role in the process.
He will work alongside four other members with backgrounds in football, law and high-performance management. They are Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) General Secretary and former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe, legal practitioner and football administrator Agbesi Dzakpasu, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and High-Performance Specialist Faisal Chibsah.
The panel has been instructed to identify and evaluate potential candidates before putting forward a recommendation to the GFA for the vacant position.
The coaching role opened on Thursday, 1 October, when Queiroz stepped down after Ghana's September international window.
The GFA and the Ministry have pledged to conduct the appointment process transparently and on merit. Their aim is to find a suitably qualified coach capable of taking charge of the Black Stars as they prepare for their forthcoming commitments.
